The daughter is disabled and would have otherwise been unable to make it to the hospital to be with her mom without Shelby's compassion and initiative.
Shelby took the initiative to help the daughter of her patient who was actively dying from a catastrophic, survivable parietal intraparenchymal hemorrhage, procure transport to the hospital. The daughter is disabled and would have otherwise been unable to make it to the hospital to be with her mom without Shelby's compassion and initiative. Shelby went above and beyond by calling the taxi company, verifying the address of the daughter, speaking to the House Supervisor about helping to cover the cost of the taxi ride for the daughter, and even willing at one point to pay for the taxi service personally. Shelby frequently shows this level of dedication and compassion to her patients and their family members. This singular act of kindness and extraordinary nursing service represents exactly what every nurse should strive to do for their patients and their family members on a daily basis. The daughter of this patient will always remember this act of kindness shown to her by Shelby.
