Nurse Shelby was so patient with us. My 11-year-old son was diagnosed with ITP. This was such a scary moment as a parent, my extraordinary, active, energetic child had been told he had a medical issue that was going to take away the one thing he loved and thrived to do: sports! He was down in spirits but trying to hold it together. Nurse Shelby brought such a kind, light, fun, energy from the moment she stepped foot into the room. He was nothing but smiles and giggles as she took care of him. Seeing that she truly loved her job, no matter the request or frequent questions she never once showed a sign of being frustrated, tired, or annoyed. You could tell she loved her job. Being new to ITP and just all the uncertainty of what his little body could handle, she not once walked in, disregarding our request that she wear a mask and making sure the other nurses followed that same request. We were so grateful that during this time, we had someone so patient and kind by our side. I have been around a ton of nurses and doctors, and in all the years, I've not once had the pleasure to encounter someone with genuine care and love for their job as Shelby does. I will forever be grateful for the positive energy she surrounded my son with. Thank you, Nurse Shelby, L will forever remember you as his all-time favorite nurse!
