I first met Shelby when I came home to assess my uncle's status, and talk with my family about continuing his code status. I'm pretty sure I came off as an over obnoxious and possibly in the way (surgical) nurse. She understood and let it be. The one thing that I had picked up on is her quality of care and commitment to her patients. She not only requested to be his nurse when she didn't have to but also was willing to stay with him while he progressively passed away. That is the sign of a nurse who exemplifies compassion that can never be taught. My family and I will never be able to thank her for the care, compassion, and amount of time spent caring for my uncle, as well as communication with us. This was the least I could do for such a fantastic person and nurse, Thank you, Shelby!
