Shella Fernandez, BSc
I have a premature baby with a left hypoplastic heart disorder. My baby has been at Sidra Medicine since she was born and has not gone home yet. She was initially in the NICU, then transferred to the CICU, and later to the general ward.
As a mother of a baby with a heart condition, while also caring for my five-year-old son, I am constantly juggling between home, the hospital, my son, my husband, and many other responsibilities. I haven’t had proper sleep for four months now, and my home is far from the hospital.
One particular nurse went above and beyond for me. Shella truly took care of me—she encouraged me to sleep through the night while she looked after my daughter, giving her milk and medication without disturbing me at all. Knowing how exhausted I was, she made sure I could rest. She even provided me with extra blankets when I felt cold and cared for me like a sister.
Shella was incredibly kind and thoughtful, and I deeply appreciate her. Please recognize her from the bottom of my heart—she truly touched me with her kindness.
