I was admitted to the hospital in the labor and delivery unit in early November. My water broke, and I was induced at 16 weeks. This was an incredibly stressful and frightening time. All of the nurses and staff were excellent, but Shelley stood out to me the most. She was there during my labor and explained every procedure and test that was going to be completed. During the delivery, I got scared, and Shelley walked me through what I was going to feel, what I needed to do, and when I needed to do it. She was calm and soothing. I’m very grateful to her.

At the end of her shift, she came into my room with the new nurse who was taking over. Shelley explained my case and made sure I met the new nurse. Two weeks later, I had to be admitted again, and I was very relieved to see that Shelley was going to be my nurse again. She was familiar with my case and asked how we were coping. Shelley expressed sympathy and truly cared about not only my well-being and mental health but also my husband's as well. Shelley was personal yet professional, and her knowledge was evident and up-to-date. She exceeded our expectations and is incredibly deserving of this recognition and reward. Her devotion made an impact on me and inspires me to give this same level of care to my own patients.
