Shelley went above and beyond for our students, not only meeting minimal standards but seeking ways to provide our students every learning opportunity possible.
Shelley is truly an exceptional instructor, leader, and coworker. She will stop what she is doing anytime to help others. She is the first to volunteer when someone is having a hard day or when coverage is needed for a clinical lab. She constantly has a positive attitude about helping and never shows that she is inconvenienced even if her service to others puts her behind in her own work. Recently, she took over the social media account for the School of Nursing. She is diligent about posting wonderful updates about our faculty and students, demonstrating her true love for the nursing program. During the COVID-19 crisis, our course wouldn’t have made it without this faculty’s selfless service. She went above and beyond for our students, not only meeting minimal standards but seeking ways to provide our students every learning opportunity possible.
I wanted to provide you with one story that made this faculty deserving of this nomination, but the truth is that every single day she embodies what it means to be an Extraordinary Nurse and nursing educator.
I would like to add my support for the nomination of this individual by giving you a short list of her responsibilities. 1. She is the RN-BSN program coordinator which involves the reviewing of transcripts for admission and a lot of cheerleading, support, and encouragement of these students. She also attends many recruitment events for this program. 2. She is the Chair of the SON Evaluation Committee. She is responsible for directing the development of the evaluation plan for the SON and collection of data and dissemination of the data. She also works within the university system to make sure that we are meeting certain criteria for SACS accreditation. 3. She teaches the undergraduate Health Assessment course. 4. She teaches multiple courses in the RN-BSN program, teaches electives and 1st-semester courses in the summer. 5. She teaches a section of SFA 101 6. Manges the SON social media account. 7. Serves as a member of the Administrative Team.
