Picking a specific example of how Shelley has made a difference in her patient’s care would be impossible. Every single time Shelley comes in for a shift she is making a difference. She is the calm in the storm for every patient and family member she takes care of. Her wealth of knowledge, compassion, and expertise in her nursing practice helps make every patient and family experience brighter and easier. Multiple families have mentioned how Shelley goes above and beyond caring for their little ones. Whether she’s crocheting a stuffed animal for her patient or rocking them to sleep when they’re upset, being a stand-in mom for kids that don’t have parents, or finding the right words to say to comfort families in hard situations she is always making such an impact. We all feel so lucky and proud that we get to work with Shelley. She is a shining example of what it means to be an amazing PICU nurse and we don’t know what we would do without her.
