Shelley Tarantola has been a huge part of the Endoscopy Unit. Patients, doctors and nursing students do not leave the unit without feeling her presence. When you are cared for by Shelley, you know are you are getting the best care possible. She has a very kind but confident way about her. She puts patients at ease by her kindness, thorough explanation of the procedure to be performed, explaining to the patients step by step the experience that is about to happen, while keeping privacy and patient's dignity.

Shelley is also a great educator. She not only educates the nursing students that rotate through the unit, but she will also educate new hires and the GI Fellows and Gastroenterologists that need a "refresher" course in using certain equipment and procedures. She always makes herself available and she is very approachable. With all that said, we can't think of a better candidate than Shelley Tarantola to receive the DAISY Award.
