During a code of a rather young patient who went "down" in front of her adolescent son, Shelly performed top notch CPR and coached other staff members who were also performing CPR.

Upon the loss of the patient, she coordinated for the family to come in to be with their loved one. Shelly also coached and helped the staff for a quick clean-up of the patient and the patient’s room to ensure the grieving family did not have to see their mother in a more traumatic scene.

I am grateful for a charge nurse who fought for this patient the same way I did and who felt the tug of her heart to go above and beyond for someone we didn't know personally. This is our job, but this is also a Work of Heart.
