I don't remember too much about what happened, but what I DO remember is that Shelly never gave up on me! I will never forget her calm, kind words and all she did that day.
I suffered a pulmonary embolism that went to my heart, at home. The ambulance took me to the hospital. The first person I recall seeing was Shelly. She took her hands and put them around my face and said, "we will take good care of you, my friend." AND SHE DID! I coded a number of times and CPR was performed for over an hour. The doctor kept coming out to my family asking if they wanted to let me go. I don't remember too much about what happened, but what I DO remember is that Shelly never gave up on me! I will never forget her calm, kind words and all she did that day. My life was saved due to the efforts of that team and she was a big part of that! She went above and beyond and deserves to be recognized for her high work ethic and skills. She is an outstanding, kind, compassionate, skilled nurse and a person I'd want by my side again in an ED situation. I am alive today and, IN NO SMALL PART, due to this nurse's willingness to go above and beyond! I will be forever grateful! We need more nurses like Shelly!
