Shelly is an amazing nurse. She is the nurse you would want to take care of your family member if they were ever hospitalized. She goes above and beyond every day she works. One day Shelly outdid even herself. She was taking care of a patient with a new stroke diagnosis. The patient was fully alert and oriented but was struggling with garbled speech and expressive aphasia. The staff had a difficult time understanding him when he tried to make his needs known. Shelly took the time to copy and paste images and letters from Google to create a tool for the patient in which he could point to words and images to communicate. The patient was able to easily use this tool and it was obvious how much easier the day was for him after. This meant a lot to the patient and to his daughter who was by his side and saw how attentive his nurse was to him.
