Shelly is truly the best case manager at IMED. She works tirelessly to ensure that her patients receive the best care. She's an incredible advocate and serves each and every one of her patients with dignity and respect. She's truly an example of what excellent patient-centered care entails. Despite the workload, the stress, or the frustrations, Shelly treats her coworkers with kindness and empathy. She's a humble leader who encourages and uplifts those around her.

Shelly makes people feel that they are valued and important. I've seen Shelly over and over advocate for patients who have little support, complex health challenges, and even those who have behavior and other mental health challenges. She will stand up for their right to have equal access to care. There was a patient whose family had poor medical literacy, who was unable to comprehend the medical necessity of a procedure that this patient desperately needed. She worked tirelessly to help the family understand and work through this crisis. She was patient, yet steady in helping this family come to a place where they understood what was needed; she met the family where they were at and helped educate and encouraged them, so that they eventually were at a place where they felt comfortable making the medical decisions for the patient. It took time, patience, incredible communication, and most of all empathy.
