November 2024 Honoree
Shelly Ralston, RN
It takes a very special person to be a hospice nurse and this nominee is by far it!! From her very first interaction with my father until the day he passed, I was sure she had his best interest at heart. This nominee is incredible at reading patients’ needs and wants and treating them as a friend and not just another patient. My dad had a very witty and sarcastic attitude in life and she was able to read his cues and give it right back to him with a smile. The nominee always made it clear to the patient and everyone around him that he was in charge, and nothing happened until he said so. It made me smile to know his last two weeks of life were based on what he needed and wanted, and nothing was pushed on him before he was ready. Knowing we were at the final stages of life was so difficult, but I feel blessed that we had this nurse by his side, advocating for him and showing him compassion until the very end.
Thank you, Shelly, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
