One night, Shelly accompanied her family and a hospital volunteer for the quarterly volunteer dining out event at a restaurant in Upland. During dinner, one of the volunteers began showing signs of distress. It soon became apparent that this volunteer was choking on food. Immediately help was called and Shelly answered the call by rushing to assist. She administered the Heimlich Maneuver and the food was quickly dislodged. Throughout the incident, Shelly remained calm and stayed with the volunteer to reassure her and ensure she was completely recovered. Shelly went above and beyond to provide life-saving assistance.
