... Today marks eight months since we were first admitted into the Labor & Delivery unit at Bronson. It has taken us eight months to write this, not because these thoughts haven't crossed our minds over and over, but rather because it has taken this long to find a proper way to articulate our gratitude. It is difficult to process through and articulate the emotions and events following a stillbirth, but today, eight months later, we are ready.
On the night that we lost our baby, there was a nurse, somewhat in the background, doing her job perfectly as tears stained her face. Sherri Bumgarner cared for us many times. She was a great nurse during our stay, but it was on the night that we lost Pepper that she shined. Those were the worst hours of our entire lives. Sherri did her job with such grace. She acted as a comforter, a photographer, a nurse and a friend that night. We are so thankful that she was there to care for us that night when we most need it.
