Dr. Stevens has been a nurse educator for 25 years and a faculty member at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) for 10 of those years. She teaches in the BSN program and the graduate nursing program. In the undergraduate program, Dr. Stevens touches students early on in their program as the course instructor for Pharmacology, and in the final semester of the program teaching the Professional Practice and Leadership course. 

Her nominator wrote, “Dr. Stevens is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She encourages her students, believes in their success, and advocates for our concerns. She teaches with passion and patience. She makes her students feel smart and successful. Dr. Stevens is able to make class fun and engaging while managing to teach us in a way that we can learn better. The way she cares for EACH of her students is inspiring. Dr. Stevens is such a light for every student in the nursing program.”
