Sherrie has been working in FMH nursery for about 100 years has always been a patient advocate. She provides patient and family centered care. She prepares a gift to patient's family utilizing her great photo taking skill, such as a family picture, cute baby pictures, and extra foot prints. Our NICU does not allow patient's siblings for visiting to prevent infections, so these gifts especially encourage bonding with NICU baby's brothers and sisters.
Sherrie is always helpful for parents considering adopting out their baby. Since Sherrie adopted 5 babies, she shares her experience and knowledge about adoption with both biological and adopting parents. It helps parents with the difficult decision making process, and they are very appreciative for her help. Sherrie's shift starts from organizing the unit. She makes patients' bedside clean and neat to welcome families to NICU. She is personable and nice to everyone.
I feel like our shift will be fine when I work with Sherrie. Whenever we are slammed, she volunteers to work extra. She is so agile and finishes tasks quickly. Sherrie will stop working in Nursery to work as a Lactation Consultant soon, and it will be a huge loss for FMH Nursery. But I know that she will utilize her knowledge and experience to help many more moms.
