Sherry was assigned a patient in ED holding recently. This patient had a C-section 1 week prior at another hospital. The patient was admitted to this facility for post-op complications and sepsis. Her infant daughter was in the NICU at Methodist Germantown since birth. Sherry noted the patient was tearful and crying during her stay. Sherry took the time to hear the patient's story about the patient's recent delivery. The patient had an unplanned C-Section which resulted in her infant daughter requiring immediate resuscitation after birth. The two had never met before. Sherry empathized with the patient and sought out a way for them to meet for the first time. After working through details with the NICU, Sherry placed her patient in a wheelchair and escorted her from the ED boarding area to the NICU where the new mom could see her baby for the first time. This story is so touching and shows the empathy, compassion, and heart that Sherry shows each of her patients. She is truly exceptional and provides her patients with the best care possible.
