A patient was seen in the emergency department multiple times with hypertension. The patient had prescriptive blood pressure medication but was not taking them. The patient confessed to Sherry that they were not taking the medication because they could not afford it. Sherry took it upon herself to work with the pharmacy to get the medication filled for the patient. She picked up the prescription and paid for it with her own money. The patient was so grateful.
The patient now has access to much-needed blood pressure medication. I was so impressed by her initiative to help this patient.
