Sherry has been my shining light. I’ve had an emotional/physical roller coaster since I was
admitted. One day, after my doctor gave me bad news and left my room, I had never felt so lonely and scared. In my 77 years, I have cried maybe four times. This was the fifth.
I began to cry like a baby and shake all over, worried about what the future holds.

Like an angel, Sherry walked into my room and held me, comforted me, and made me feel so
much better. In the two days I was blessed to have this “angel” over me, never did 15 minutes
go by without her checking in on me. And at the end of the day, she came in to say goodbye and leaned in to kiss me and reassure me all would be just fine. She placed in my hand a ceramic angel on top of a cross and whispered, “Now you’ll have your own angel to always watch over you.” In all my years of being in hospitals, although I’ve had wonderful, professional doctors and nurses, never have I been cared for like I was by my “angel”. If she doesn’t deserve this award, then no one does. She is truly an angel, and San Martín is lucky, as well
as honored, to have her on their staff.

In closing, I used to be afraid of passing on – no longer, since I’ve met my angel. Please do not pass her up in giving her this award. We should all be honored to have been lucky enough to be in her presence. What a gift! Thank you, St. Rose. Mostly, thank you for giving me the strength to look forward and not back. God Bless!
