Sherry Madrous, LPN

Sherry recently made a huge impact on the care of a patient who spoke minimal English as a second language. He answered my general questions, however, I felt that the communication barriers were leading to less than excellent care of this patient. Sherry went back into his clinic room to talk to him and ensure there were no misunderstandings. She spoke Spanish and clarified he was having chest pain. He was taking 2 sublingual nitro pills at a time; not the correct directions of 1 sublingual nitro as needed every 5 minutes up to the third dose. If something like this was misunderstood there is no telling what other issues might have occurred.

Thanks to Sherry, the patient left our clinic yesterday with full knowledge and confidence in his clinical care. He came back today for a test and stopped by to thank her again. I could tell by the look of relief on his face that he felt comfort in our team which is a rare occurrence for him. I am so thankful for having Sherry for her language skills and her excellent nursing skills only exceeded by her compassion for our patients and her co-workers.
