Sherry loves knowing that she makes a difference in the lives of the patients and their families.
Sherry's expertise and expert care assisted in the unit quality metrics, which led to the team receiving the first AACN Gold-Level Beacon Award in Brooklyn, New York. Sherry started at Woodhull Hospital in 2007. Nursing is her second career and most rewarding. She graduated from Baruch College and started working as a mutual fund accountant. Although she enjoyed her job, her tasks became mundane and unfulfilled as the years passed. During that time, she was hospitalized, and the experience sparked a flame she could not ignore. The nurses who attended to her were compassionate, funny, and intelligent and treated her with dignity. They were patient when explaining complex medical terms, she didn't understand.
This experience gave her the courage to change her career and return to school. She attended Pace University's accelerated nursing program. It was challenging, but with the support of family and friends, she graduated with a BSN degree. Some were worried that she would regret my decision since she had been in the financial field for so long, but Sherry has no regrets and loves being a nurse. She loves knowing that she makes a difference in the lives of the patients and their families.
