Sherry took it upon herself to go to Walmart on her day off and purchase this patient two new pairs of pants to fit her.
Sherry volunteered to be "Helping Hands" personnel on our unit (Ortho-Neuro). She was a great asset to the team that day and really gave 100% to do whatever was needed. During the course of her day, she got wind of a patient who was here for suicidal ideation following an unfortunate and traumatic event in her life that had no pants that fit her. None of the scrub pants would stay up on her thin hips and she was stressed out to not have pants on. Sherry took it upon herself to go to Walmart on her day off and purchase this patient two new pairs of pants to fit her. The next day she brought them to the unit to deliver them. She was so gracious toward the unit for welcoming her on her "helping hands" day and really wanted to do something for this patient. It was a prime example of nurses living the values of service and compassion. It touched my heart to see the joy it gave her to help this woman out.
