I would like to nominate Sherry, she is truly an amazing nurse! Sherry is always very compassionate for her patients. But one example really stuck out to me.
A boy came into the ER one night; they found a nodule on his lungs so they transferred him to UK Children’s Hospital. This young man truly touched Sherry. She exchanged numbers with his mother in order to check on him. She has been in close contact with the family ever since. She even took time out of her Saturday off work to go up to UK and see him! She stopped at Wal-Mart on the way there and got him yo-yo's which were his favorite thing, and also Easter candy because it was Easter weekend! I can only imagine how it made this little boy feel. He expressed to her that he knew he had God, he believed that he would take care of him. This little boy had so much faith in God that Sherry just fell in love with him! It brightened that little boy’s day when she came to sit with him and visit. The mother called Sherry to tell her the good news, they found out it was not cancer. Just to see Sherry cry over this little boy made me realize even more what an amazing nurse and person she is!
Sherry will go out of her way to help her coworkers! She is always in a good mood, never argues, she always keeps a positive attitude no matter the situation or how aggravated she really is. She makes sure her patients are comfortable and takes the time to actually talk to them which is hard in an ER. Night after night Sherry helps not only the patients but her coworkers even if she doesn't have time to. I could go on and on about the things she does on a daily basis that just make this place the special place it is! She really deserves this DAISY Award.
