Tennant-Jorguenson
Professor Tennant-Jorguenson serves as a role model by demonstrating professionalism, clinical competence, and composure under pressure. During our intensive week of skills validations and simulation labs, she modeled how to think critically through each step of a skill rather than just performing it mechanically. She reminded us to verbalize our rationale and approach patient care safely and thoughtfully.
When mistakes happened, she corrected them constructively and used them as teaching moments. Her calm leadership and high standards demonstrate to students what ethical, competent nursing practice should look like, making her a true mentor to the profession.
Her passion for nursing and teaching is evident in her preparation, energy, and attention to detail. She does not rush through skills; instead, she breaks them down step by step and explains the “why” behind every action. During skills labs, she paused scenarios to reinforce learning rather than allowing confusion to build.
Even on long, stressful validation days, she maintained a positive, encouraging presence. That enthusiasm reduced anxiety and motivated students to stay engaged and push through self-doubt.
She fosters a team-centered environment among students and collaborates effectively with fellow faculty to ensure demonstrations and validations run smoothly and consistently. She reinforces a culture of mutual respect, professionalism, and shared responsibility.
By aligning her teaching with University standards while maintaining strong communication with colleagues and students, she strengthens both the learning experience and the nursing program as a whole.
