LTC Sheryl Araneta NC has accomplished several activities for the welfare of Camp Melchor F Dela Cruz Station Hospital. Noteworthy of these accomplishments are: her initiatives and linkage efforts to the Department of Health, Tuguegarao City that led to the acquisition of 150 units of HIV Rapid Diagnostic Tests, 13 boxes of condoms, 4 boxes of lubricating jelly, 2 Training Aids, 12 Insecticide Treated Screen, 10 Ionomer Cement Kits, 10 Glass Ionomer Cement Kits,10 Glass Ionomer for Atraumatic Restorative Treatments and 50 boxes Fluoride Varnish Kits. With the vast increase in Dengue cases in Region 11, particularly in lsabela Province, one of the best ways to combat the disease is the implementation of methods of prevention in schools. She spearheaded the installation of the Insecticide Treated Screen together with the Commanding Officer of CMFDCSH to three (3) schools namely; Shining Star Learning Center, Camp Melchor F Dela Cruz Elementary School, and Songsong Elementary School, all in Upi Gamu lsabela. She was instrumental in the successful conduct of Dental Check-up and application of fluoride varnish to three hundred (300) pupils in coordination with the 1365th Dental Detachment, CMFDCSH. 51D. PA.
Promoting the Primary Health Care of the Nursing Service in support to the Development Support and Security Plan (DSSP) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, LTC Araneta was instrumental in the implementation of the Nursing Service personnel activities to the two (2) adopted barangays, Zingapan and Songsong, Upi, Gamu, Isabela. The personnel of the nursing service in coordination with the Rural Health Unit personnel conducted a lecture on Family Planning to 228 mothers and administered Tetanus Toxoid to 147 pregnant women and immunization of 1,090 well babies from August 2019 to July 2020 with the following vaccines: BCG DPT, OPV, anti-measles Hepatitis B, MMR, and tetanus toxoid. She also participated in various medical missions within 5ID area of responsibility.
Moreover, other distinct accomplishments of said Officer for the first quarter of CY 2020 was the launching of the Nursing Service "Wellness Program" which aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and prevent diseases to 51D personnel and other unis of 51D, PA through series of lectures on HIV Awareness and free HIV screening, Basic Life Support and typhoid and pneumococcal vaccination, BP & BMI Monitoring, and distribution of condoms. It was first launched at the Headquarters 51D, 5DCAU, PO post tenant units inside the camp, 951B at San Mariano, lsabela, 50IB at Pinokpok, Kalinga Apayao and was extended to the Philippine Navy personnel of Naval Base, Camilo Osias, San Vicente. Sta, Ana and personnel of MBLT-10, of the Philippine Marines at Brgy Burubur, Cagayan and to the personnel of the PAF, TOG2, Cauayan, lsabela. With a total of 215 participants for the BLS and HIV Lecture, 145 recipients for HIV Screening, 300 beneficiaries for the Pneumococcal vaccine, 50 recipients of Typhoid Vaccine. Another noteworthy accomplishment is the Valentine's Outreach Program conducted to the 40 pre-schoolers and their parents or guardians at the 51D Shining Star Learning Center, educating them on Proper Hand Washing, Personal Hygiene and Grooming, and Nutrition. Hygiene kits and nutrition packs were distributed. Storytelling, feeding program, and fun games were enjoyed by the participants.
With the outbreak of COVID-19, she coordinated with the Chief of Staff, 51D for the conduct of Troop Information and Education (TI & E) on 2019- nCOV to all personnel inside the camp and was participated by all personnel of the Headquarters, including post and tenant units of 51D, PA.
During the Nationwide Enhanced Community Quarantine, she rendered clinical duties in the ward for 38 days when all civilian personnel of the camp was sent home. Likewise, she actively participated in conducting Rapid Test for COVID-19 to 250 personnel deployed in 16 checkpoints located within the 5ID, PA. She was instrumental in the acquisition of rural vegetable seeds from the Department of Agriculture, Ilagan City which could cover at least a hectare of land. Thus, inspiring Nursing Service personnel to indulge themselves in "Rural Gardening", this also drove the nursing service personnel to convert a once weedy backyard into a vegetable garden. Other seeds were also given to other post and tenant units. This backyard gardening provided the Nursing Service personnel something to do to keep their minds and bodies active during emergency lockdown and red alert status. It brought recreational, health, economic and environmental benefits to the personnel and taught the personnel ways for a sustainable use of natural resources and sustainability.
