Shirley provided not only excellent clinical care but also a deep level of humanity and empathy.

Shirley provided extraordinary care and compassion to my sister and our entire family during one of the most profoundly difficult times of our lives. My sister, only 32 years old, was hospitalized with end-stage liver failure, alcoholic hepatitis, alcoholic encephalopathy, and sepsis. She is also uninsured and, unfortunately, part of a patient population that is often stigmatized or treated with less compassion in healthcare settings.

From the very beginning, Shirley provided not only excellent clinical care but also a deep level of humanity and empathy. She treated my sister with dignity, compassion, unwavering respect, and as a person fully worthy of care and attention.

She was attentive, patient, and always took the time to communicate clearly with us. She broke down complex information in ways we could understand and made sure we felt informed and included every step of the way. At a time when our family was struggling to come to terms with the diagnosis and the reality of my sister’s condition and possible outcomes, Shirley was a steady, calming presence.

She offered comforting words and genuine reassurance, even in the midst of heartbreaking conversations. Her emotional support helped anchor us when we felt completely overwhelmed by fear, uncertainty, and grief. She met us where we were, emotionally and spiritually, and helped us cope with a situation no family is ever truly prepared for.

She made space for our emotions, answered every question with honesty and kindness, and never made us feel like a burden. Most importantly, she truly advocated for my sister, ensuring her needs were met and that her voice was heard. It’s clear that she does her job from the heart.

Her passion, empathy, and professionalism shine through in everything she does, and she will forever have our deepest gratitude for the extraordinary care she provided to my sister and our family.
