Had Shon not diligently stayed by her, trusted his instinct, and advocated for his patient, she would have died in the facility.
We had a female come in exhibiting Behavior that wasn't fit for confinement. She passed out three times in the DUI room. She passed out in the investigation room. And she passed out while being booked in. Shon called the practitioner and she ordered for her to be seen in the ER. She was sent to NMC and was there less than an hour they gave her a sleeping medication and cleared her for confinement. However, when she returned Shon saw she clearly was not okay and started taking vital signs. He alerted jail staff she needed to be sent back to NMC ER because her blood pressure was dropping. Jail administration received push back from the Sheriff's office to send her back due to being cleared by NMC once already. EMS showed up and gave her Narcan twice and loaded her up. While on the way to the ER she had two heart attacks and stopped breathing 14 times in the ER.Had Shon not diligently stayed by her, trusted his instinct, and advocated for his patient, she would have died in the facility. He did a fantastic job.
