I am writing this for my 20-year-old daughter. She was admitted last week for constipation, vomiting, abdominal pain, and a ruptured ovarian cyst. She was in a lot of pain, after several failed attempts to get her to defecate, she was crying on the floor in agonizing pain. Shyan had already asked for pain medicine, but the pharmacy was very slow. Shyan came into my daughter's room to tell her that it would be a little longer on the medicine. She saw my daughter was doubled up in pain and instead of leaving her. Shyan sat down next to my child and wrapped her arms around my daughter holding her until the pain medicine was able to be picked up. I know you all are extremely busy, but for a nurse to put aside everything for 5 minutes to comfort and console a young woman speaks volumes about who she is as a person. We had a horrible experience for the first 2 days. Shyan completely comes in on day 3 and changes our opinion of the hospital. I hope Shyan gets the recognition she deserves and I really hope you look for nurses that are as compassionate as Shyan is and truly care about her patients. Thank you Shyan for being who you are and for showing up when my daughter needed you the most!
