Sibel did this with competence, and in a caring and extremely careful manner.

My husband is 87 years old. Just prior to the first time we went to the wound clinic, we had an extremely bad experience at another medical facility, where we were left alone for hours in a room in an emergency department at a local hospital. We were treated in a disrespectful and unprofessional manner; my husband was subjected to unnecessary and extremely painful treatment that didn’t need to be painful and he actually left the facility feeling way worse than when we arrived.

With that footprint pretty fresh in our minds we dreaded a trip to a “wound clinic” and what we fully expected to be a painful and generally unhappy experience. Because of the work of Dr. D and his team and the extraordinary care from Sibel we left smiling that day, which was a few months ago.

Recently, we have had two occasions to return to the clinic and even waited over a weekend in order to see the wound clinic team rather than going to an emergency room or urgent care. Here is why… Upon our arrival, Sibel promptly greeted us and seemed genuinely happy to see us. Then she went about doing those things only she does. For instance, she helped my husband out of the wheelchair with expertise and kindness.  She made sure the exam table was a good height for a handicapped, elderly patient to get on it easily and safely. She very carefully and humanely removed a blood-soaked, dried-up dressing that was thick and messy and stuck to the wound. She did this with competence, and in a caring and extremely careful manner. As the appointment went on, each step was explained and made as painless as possible for my husband. All the while, Sibel worked quickly and deliberately, and we happily had the opportunity to catch up with some great conversation and learning opportunities where we could get Sibel’s help and guidance for home care of the wound.

She is not only excellent at her job, she is sweet, kind, helpful, and insightful. Not to mention a great, upbeat conversationalist. We even had some good laughs that day at the pain clinic! What more can we say? If any nurse deserves this DAISY Award it is SIBEL!
