Congratulations to our Quarter 2 DAISY Team Award Honorees Haley Bonner, Allison Sheppard, and Taylor King in the SICU. Their extraordinary nursing care was witnessed by Dr. Ryan Pollard, Internal Medicine Resident, who nominated them for the exceptional care and compassion he observed. A portion of his nomination reads:

“From the moment the patient entered the SICU Haley Bonner, Allison Sheppard, and Taylor King were intently engaged in timely, constructive, and treatment-changing communication with our team. They recognized critical patient signs and symptoms and compassionately, effectively, and efficiently cared for the patient. The extra mile that Haley, Allison, and Taylor went to support this patient will forever be etched in my mind. They did everything physically possible plus some during his admission including playing critical roles in bringing him back from multiple episodes of decompensation. Once his death was imminent and the patient's family elected comfort care they each sat on either side of the patient holding his hands during the last minutes of his life, each with exhaustion from hours of critical care and an extended code, and tears streaming down their faces for a patient they had only met hours before. Despite the patient's outcome, Haley, Allison, and Taylor's actions were truly remarkable and heroic. I will never forget their determination, skill, and charity."
