Though all of my teammates work hard and take excellent care of their patients, one nurse stands out. She works extra shifts to help the team. She will come in at the drop of a hat, at 3 AM because you are drowning. She stays late to see her patients through. She follows through with her patients' care after admission. She takes charge on occasion, even though she doesn't like to. She rubs the backs of her tired cancer patients. She holds the hands of her GI bleed patients while mass transfusing blood. She sits at the bedside of her suicidal patients and just listens. She parks her computer outside of the glass door of her worried COVID patients' room, just so they can see her through the closed door. She talks to these patients via phone so they will not be lonely. Her patients love her and so do her colleagues. She is our Sidney.
