Sienna demonstrated exceptional nursing care and advocacy for her patient on comfort care, given the very challenging family dynamics. Sienna prioritized and supported her patient’s wishes for an increase in needed end-of-life medications despite family objections and concerns. These medications play a crucial role in providing comfort and improving the quality of life for terminal patients. By advocating for these medications, Sienna demonstrated her clinical knowledge and understands the importance of listening to her patient. In the end, the family thanked the nurse for her support during an emotionally difficult time, as well as, for her outstanding compassionate care. Her actions truly exemplify the qualities of a DAISY recipient, as she ensured that her patient’s voice was heard and respected, leading to a comfortable outcome. Sienna’s courage and fortitude made a significant difference in the patient’s life.
