At my second chemo, my nurse was Sierra. I was still having some “first-time” jitters about treatment and having my port accessed. Sierra was so kind that day and made me feel at ease about everything. She is skillful and knowledgeable, and I knew I was in good hands. After that, I was fortunate enough to have Sierra be my RN at most of my treatments. Over all those sessions, I got to see the great nursing skills she possesses. But, perhaps more importantly, she made an effort to get to know me, and even all about my family. She was a source of support when my father had a stroke and unfortunately passed away. On days when things felt a little “lighter,” she and I exchanged book recommendations or talked about random things. On the rare days I didn’t get her as my nurse, she ALWAYS came to say hi and see how I was. Going through cancer is never easy, but having Sierra be that consistent person, always there to chat and make me feel “normal”, has made a big difference for me. She’s so great and deserves this award!

Thank you, Sierra, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
