She’s a modern-day superhero acting selflessly to help others.
We came to meet nurse Sierra after my son was diagnosed with cancer. She became our nurse during the first chemo treatment that our son was receiving. She came in with a smile on her face, and she was very personable. She had just learned the chemo process the month before completing her training and she was great. She talked us through everything she was doing and the medication she was giving. For us, this was wonderful because this journey we were on was all new. She has become such a shining light in our lives. She checks in on us often; I say us because she also checks on me, even on days she may not have us, which just warms my heart. She plays an essential role in my son’s life. If you ask my son, she is his nurse's best friend. I have personally watched her move to his level by the bedside, so that she was at his eye level to talk to him. Having cancer is not the easiest thing for children to understand, the whirlwind of emotions and the many ups and downs, but she has a way of turning his bad days into a better day. She’s a modern-day superhero acting selflessly to help others. Her compassion for taking care of us has been remarkable. We greatly appreciate Sierra for everything she has done and continues to do for us. Saying “thank you” isn’t enough, but I hope my words carry their own meaning. Sierra has been with us during some of the darkest hours, and it’s very important for me to show my appreciation to her.
