My friend S needed methergine in order to stop her hemorrhaging, and their insurance was being awful and wanting to charge 1,500 dollars. Sierra spent all afternoon on the phone calling local pharmacies to find a cheaper price. She found one order for 10 pills at around 130 dollars. She paid for it, out of her own pocket, and refused to let me and another one of S's friends tell S what she had done until S was discharged from the hospital. Sierra's selfless act of empathy and caring defines the standard for being a nurse. She went well above and beyond the call of duty, and that methergine she bought slowed down S's bleeding when she hemorrhaged yet again and had to be rushed back to the hospital in an ambulance.
