Sierra was compassionate, caring, and she made it feel like I had a friend!
I was very disoriented after my procedure. Sierra was the first nurse to make me feel like a human. She was patient and kind. She went above and beyond. No matter how many times I needed help, she always walked in with a smile and caring demeanor. (I needed a lot of help getting to the bathroom, ice packs, seeing, etc.) I was only staying the night, but that night was when most of my waking up and the start of my healing was beginning. She was the first person to offer me underwear! Such a simple gesture, but it made me feel less vulnerable and was comforting. She was concerned about some of the symptoms I was having and notified the doctor to see if there was something we should be doing. (These were the same symptoms I had been having during the afternoon.) Because of the call to the doctor, I was able to stop a medication that was giving me severe side effects. She talked to me about every medication I received, and when one wasn't right, because of her thoroughness, we caught it before I took it. I hadn't been asked about lunch or dinner. I wasn't restricted. Just no one had talked to me about it. Sierra was the first nurse to offer me a menu, tell me when to call so I could get breakfast, and when my eyesight hadn't returned to normal yet, helped me read the menu. I didn't feel lost and alone knowing that she was my nurse that evening. I felt comfortable calling to ask her for help. I felt like I had a friend.
She let me know when she was getting off of her shift and made sure I was up to date on everything before she left. She was compassionate, caring, and she made it feel like I had a friend! The feeling of comfort and safety that Sierra provided me made it possible that I left the hospital on schedule! Because she gave me such great care I would recommend her and the hospital to anyone who needs a hospital bed!
