On behalf of the entire family we would like to take this time to express our sincere appreciation for a truly outstanding member of your Nursing staff. Before I identify who this truly remarkable Nurse is I would like to explain our experience during my mother's stay at West Kendall Baptist.
My mother was admitted from an Urgent Care center on Monday September 23th, due to a mass
(Lump) on her behind. During post-surgery there were a rough moment when we discovered she had a
mild stroke and was sent to the ICU. She remain in the ICU until Friday October 2nd when she was
transferred to 3-North. This is where we met a truly remarkable individual.
Up to this point a member of our family had remained with my mother around the clock but on Friday the 2nd we all went home to rest. Upon returning on the morning of Saturday October 3'd, we encountered an unfavorable situation which upset the family. This truly remarkable Nurse received some harsh and unfair treatment from members of our family but through it all she remained nothing but professional and courteous.
I am truly pleased with the Compassion, Kindness, and Sensitivity she showed while caring for mother. Each day she made this journey easier for us to bear. Up to two weeks ago our mother was fully independent, an active member in her church, driving the grandkids while servicing
seniors in her community. Having to go through this event has been very though on our family.
This Extraordinary Nurse is Silvia Baldomero. We feel my mother has been extremely blessed to have been cared for by her. Because of her professionalism, kindness and genuinely warm heart we truly are fortunate to have receive her service which help accelerated my mother's recovery.
Due to the nature of my mother's surgery she needed a Wound-Vac system to aid in the recovery
process. Several times a day the Wound-Vac would develop a leak and Nurse Baldomero had that
special touch to apply re-enforcement and stop the leak, preventing infection to the surgical site. Several other staff members attempted to re-enforce the site to stop the leak but repeatedly needed assistance from Nurse Baldomero. Anytime we had questions she was able to clearly address them and get assistance when needed. Nurse Baldomero has been nothing but professional, kind and compassionate and has made this experience easier for us to bear.
We are truly fortunate that you have Nurse Sylvia Baldomero on your staff and allowed her to care for our mother. This is why we strongly recommend her for the DAISY Award for being an
Extraordinary Nurse and outstanding human being.
