Simon Paintmeier, RN
When I think of Simon Paintmeier, the very first thing that comes to mind is his calmness. No matter how busy the shift is or how chaotic things may seem, Simon remains calm. You notice it immediately because that sense of calm spreads to everyone around him.
Simon has been part of our department since 2015, and honestly, it is hard to imagine working without him. As a clinical educator, he dedicates an incredible amount of time to teaching. He listens, explains things patiently, and always treats our students with genuine respect and as equals. It quickly becomes clear how much they trust him. Many of them openly say that they enjoy coming to our department because of him.
Professionally, Simon is exceptionally knowledgeable, yet he never seeks recognition. He explains even complex topics clearly and in an approachable way, without ever making anyone feel pressured. Whenever a problem arises, he finds a solution. You can always turn to him, no matter the situation.
What makes Simon truly exceptional is not only his expertise, but also his attitude. His patience, his compassion, and the way he embodies the values of nursing every single day without needing many words. He provides stability, guidance, and reassurance—not only for our students and colleagues, but ultimately for our patients.
To me, Simon represents everything the DAISY Award stands for.
