I am writing this nominee on behalf of one our BMAR patients who asked me to make sure Sindy Fried RN gets recognized for being one of the best nurses that provided the best care to her.
 
She states, “When I came into the hospital, I was terrified and broken because of my diagnosis, and I have never been admitted into the hospital. When I got to 7 Monti, I was greeted by Sindy Fried, RN, who treated me with warmth, compassion, and empathy. She was different from the rest of the nurses on the unit who cared for me during my stay. She listened to what I had to say and made me feel like the most important person in the world. Sindy explained everything so clearly, but what really stood out was that she loved her job. Sindy would always respond with 'It’s my pleasure' when thanked. It did not matter if she was busy or not; she would always come to check on me, and when she asked if I was okay, she genuinely meant it. You cannot begin to know what an asset Sindy is to your organization. She is making a difference in lives and healthcare; she is too humble to know this. I will end this with something she told me 'I took a vow to you as a patient, and not doing my best would mean I'm failing you. I cannot let my exhaustion or emotion interfere with your care because you deserve the best care. Compassion is my job; care is my job. If I do not give my all, then I‘ve failed you, and that is not an option here.'"

I encourage you to look favorably upon this letter. Besides being a delight to work with, Sindy is a take-charge person who can communicate with patients and/or families for their benefit and health. Sindy not only acts as a role model to the patients but her colleagues as well. She is often our Chemotherapy nurse and charge nurse who goes above and all in what she does. She supports the new RNs and PCAs by welcoming and appraising them with her positive spirit. Sindy is the Co-Chair of the unit CCC on 7 Monti /BMTU and she is continually active in unit initiatives.
