Skyler embraced, exemplified and executed Mayo Clinic's Mission and Values. The greatest of these values are Respect, Integrity, and Excellence. Skyler admitted a patient for a routine colonoscopy. Her detailed assessment revealed a recent fall associated with foot pain. The procedure was completed as scheduled. Skyler was unable to secure an Urgent Care appointment for the foot pain. In addition, the Emergency room had a 3-4 hour wait. Skyler kept the patient in ASU and registered her as an ER case. Skyler collaborated with the ER physician to determine the patient had a broken bone in her foot. The diagnosis facilitated recovery and rehabilitation. The majority of Surgical Services nurses do not have the skill set to provide this level of care. The family was overjoyed by this seamless process. Both managers were aware and approved of this process.
