Smitha V Girija, RN

Smitha is a very compassionate nurse and very knowledgeable. I have seen her establishing very good relationships with patients and after discharge, patients and their families look for her when they come back to the clinic, to especially thank her.

This incident is about XX, a very young girl who was an oncology patient. She got admitted to the unit with terminal cancer and she underwent multiple procedures. I saw Smitha holding hands and sitting with this patient even on her off-duty days. The young couple (parents) were going through a very heartbreaking situation. Smitha brought food whenever the patient was unable to eat hospital food. She was contacting the family to provide support and liaise with different disciplines as needed. She was there to comfort them and answer their questions and concerns in her capacity. During her last stage, Smitha was a constant support to the patient and family. Her compassionate and extraordinary care was commended on different occasions by different patients, families, and colleagues. Smitha is soft-spoken, committed, and an excellent team player. I wish her all the best.
