Sonia works in our Kleberg ICU. Sonia treats patients and family members with a high level of respect. What is most impressive about Sonia is that she is consistent with the same behavior in care of all patients in the ICU not just the ones she is assigned.

Recently I rounded on an ICU patient and his wife to see how things were going for them. The patient's son was an MD. His son stated "He has made a miraculous recovery. I am so impressed with your ED and ICU staff here at Kleberg." The wife of the patient then said, "Sonia is an angel. She comes in to visit with us and gets my husband up to walk around the room and she is not even assigned to him. She is confident and competent in her skills and we can easily see that she is a wonderful nurse."

Sonia's behavior exemplifies the core values of excellence in nursing practice, compassion and going above and beyond the call of duty.
