October 2024 Honoree
Sonia Quinn, Registered Nurse
One weekend, we had a significantly traumatic death on 2A. Sonia was leading the code blue whilst doing chest compressions on the patient. Sonia provided clear direction and support to the staff around her throughout the horrific ordeal, whilst actively doing compressions.
All staff involved in the event spoke highly of Sonia’s clinical skills and strong communication skills in one of the most devastating experiences our ward has seen. Afterwards, Sonia provided reassurance and emotional support to our team, whilst processing the ordeal herself.
Sonia continually cares for the needs of others and will always go the extra mile in every situation. Sonia’s leadership and support to the team were invaluable, and she continues to show up to shifts as a strong and comforting leader. Sonia is a role model to so many of us, and this demonstration of leadership is consistent with Sonia’s general practice, leading through example and kindness.

Thank you, Sonia, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
