In the few months that I have known Sonia, I have been inspired by how she passionately cares for her patients. She prevents injuries and catches mistakes while challenging others around her to do the same. Her kind heart makes her patients feel safe and comfortable knowing that she is their nurse. A few weeks ago Sonia had a patient who was confused and exhausted but was not able to sleep, despite being given sleep aids. The patient was restless and insisted on sitting on the edge of the bed. The bed alarm went off several times but Sonia ran into the room every single time. Sonia sang a lullaby to the patient and before we knew it the patient was sleeping safe and sound. Sonia treats all her patients like family. She is honest and works hard to exemplify the qualities of a great nurse and I am honored with the opportunity to recognize her care and dedication.
