Sonia Silva, LPN

Sonia’s dedication to the Clinical and administrative care of patients reflects her passion as a nurse. She quickly acclimated to the demanding tempo of our clinic by leveraging her knowledge and skillset to enhance patient care. I personally witnessed Sonia prioritize patient safety when she recognized several incorrect laboratory orders. She partnered with the lab team to rectify each order and educated another technician and me on the process to close knowledge gaps. 

Similarly, she helped develop a swab "cheat sheet" as a clinic guide to assist technicians when administering viral tests, ensuring patient accuracy and timeliness during sick call hours. What is distinguishable is Sonia's infectious positivity toward patients. I was present when a patient expressed worry about her ability to complete fasting labs due to her hectic work schedule and distance from Kadena. 

Sonia emphasized her concerns and recommended sending the lab work to a closer hospital, a solution the provider adapted into the patient's care plan. Sonia exhibits a deep desire to help and meet the needs of our patients and staff. She is an integral part of our team, which is why I believe she should receive the DAISY Award.
