I am writing this nomination on behalf of the patient's husband who specifically sought me out to share his story and appreciation for Sonja. I am writing this nomination at his request and verbatim of our conversation. D is a current employee as a respiratory therapist with another healthcare system, and the patient, A, is a medical assistant.

D stated, "I know how hard healthcare providers work and the challenges they face, but Sonja did not let that show at all. We felt a special connection to Sonja and want you to know that she is a truly exceptional nurse. Her attention to detail and communication with the plan of care was phenomenal. She went out of her way to keep us aware of what was going on, what needed to be done, and why it was important. She noticed my wife was nervous about a procedure she was going to and took the time to pray with her. We both observed that this was not just the way she was with us but with her other patients, too. She exudes a passion for her work, and her compassionate, caring manner never swayed. We are sure the other nurses are great as well, but Sonja really stood out to us. The stay, while not where we wanted to be, has been as good an experience as it could be because of Sonja. Nurses are often referred to as Angels, and we certainly see this in Sonja! You hit the jackpot when you hired her!"
