Sonja Allison, RN

Less than 2 years ago, my daughter had a compound fracture of both bones in her right arm. Unfortunately, our ER experience was not pleasant. She definitely had PTSD from an ER doc.

We ended up needing to have her checked for a concussion today. I offered going to Southview since her previous experience was awful. We entered the ER, and she was crying and shaking with fear. She was in excruciating head pain. Once she was placed in a room, the doctor and nurse began assessing her. Sonja completely listened to C and put her and me at ease. She explained everything that was going to happen, the possible side effects, and the results. Sonja was compassionate, funny, and kind. I cannot thank HR enough for hiring Sonja. She totally changed how we view the ER and helped alleviate my daughter's anxiety by making this ER visit pleasing. She's an asset more valuable than I can articulate. As a mother, I can't express my appreciation for Sonja. My daughter refused to be seen for over a day with clear concussion symptoms.

Please award Sonja every nursing award available. She's exceptional to go from stress, crying, and shaking to leaving laughing, which is a rare personality! The ER is lucky to have her. She should train others. Sonja is this mom's hero! My heart is full of joy and my eyes are full of happy tears. Yes, thanks to Sonja, no more PTSD.
