In Sook has a kind heart that exemplifies what it means to be an oncology nurse. She proactively identifies patients who need extra TLC. On one such occasion, she had a patient who was coming in for a follow-up and was receiving bad news. It was near his birthday, so she went out of her way to have a custom cake made with a picture of a police officer on it (the patient was a retired officer). The staff threw a birthday party for him in the infusion center; the patient and his wife were moved to tears. In Sook provides this level of personalized, compassionate care to each of her patients.
