I delivered my first baby back in 2023. Sophia Bichsel was in orientation, but I never would have guessed she was new to the game. Sophia was there to admit me and get the process started and was so informative and knowledgeable about everything going on. After a long night of laboring, Sophia came back on shift the next morning and it was finally time to have a baby. Delivery went smoothly; Sophia was the best cheerleader! She kept me calm and motivated during the whole process. She took pictures on my phone that I wouldn’t have had without her! She really went above and beyond!
Shortly after delivery, I noticed that I felt very lightheaded to the point I was going to pass out. I really thought I was just tired from laboring, but Sophia came in at just the right time and realized that I was showing signs of postpartum hemorrhage. She quickly got extra hands in the room to handle the situation. Everything happened so quickly that it all seems vague now. Alarms were beeping, and doctors rushed in; it was a very scary time, but one thing I remember so clearly was Sophia staying by my side and telling me that I was going to be okay. It was such a simple phrase, yet exactly what I needed to hear at that moment.
